It Takes a Village! Remembering the Beginnings of Because I am a Girl

Nancy Dennis, former Trend Director for Sears Canada remembers back to 2010 when HALO CEO Paula Roberts (then Executive Vice President, Marketing and Development, Plan International Canada) visited the Sears team to share a brand new initiative called “Because I am a Girl”.

Paula led the charge to bring BIAAG to the Canadian market in the Fall 2009 and it instantly connected with Canadians in a visceral way. Sears was one of the first corporate partners to step up and as Nancy says in her post, they went on to raise $500K to support girls in the developing world. Today BIAAG continues to be a cornerstone of Plan Canada’s marketing efforts and an engine for driving change for girls and young women around the world. Read the whole story here or download the article here.
